Art Alive Project.

Everyone has a special place. It can be in the park, at the beach or even overseas. My special place is in Tahiti, at a wharf in one of the Australs islands, Tubuai. We went to Tahiti in 2011 for a family reunion. We were staying at a hall in Tahiti and not so far away was the wharf. We went there all the time to swim and jump off the side of it. The wharf is very special to me. It was a very happy time for my family and I. Tahiti was also the best trip I had ever been on in my life so far.

Henri Matisse is a very colourful artist. That is why I have decided to use his style of art, Fauvism. Fauvism is a technique that he created using bright and bold colours. Blue, red and green are the colours he liked to use the most.  When I look at his painting, I can see he also uses patterns and motifs. In my painting, I have used bright colours to paint my setting. I included some Tahitian patterns to represent my time in Tahiti.

  2. Hi Shoal,

You have explained the style of Henri Matisse and have demonstrated his technique in your painting, good work! It sounds like Tahiti, and in paticular the wharf, was very special and left you with some fantastic memories.
