Cross Country

Heart pumping, legs shaking, 10 year old girls were waiting at the starting line for cross country. "Are you nervous?” I asked Ashleigh. ‘’No," she replied. “I am, I hate cross country!” I moaned.

Mr Burt hit the clappers together and we were off! Pushing and shoving the girls ran down the field. Jogging, I started to cough, so I walked. Going out of the gate there was a big puddle of water. It felt cold in between my toes. Miss Glaze said, "Keep on going, you have a long way to go. "

Half way through the field and I am jogging. Ms Squires is filming me and Jay'Lee, so I start to go faster. I come past Mrs Barks and she starts to sing "Don’t stop Believing". I am coming up to the finish line, sprinting. “ Finally it is over!” I go and wash my feet. I never want to do that again.

Black Beard.

Black Beard began his pirating career in 1716, at the age of about 36. He was a ruthless man and terrorised the Caribbean seas striking terror in the hearts of the American colonies.

His menacing appearance had many people scared of him. His towering figure even made other pirates scared. He wore a crimson coat and his thick shaggy beard was braided to make him look even tougher. Armed with lots of pistols and knives, he looked like a crazy man. The fuses on his head made it look like smoke was coming out of his head. He really was frightening.

Rainbows End!!

"Shoal, wake up we are going to Rainbows End today!" Said my mum. It was 8:00 in the morning and I had just got up. Down stairs my Dad was having breakfast.
I had put bread in the toaster had made a Milo. Up stairs I got changed and excitedly waited for my Aunties to go and pick up Cree. Khaia’s friend Ava was coming too. We had to pick her up at Sylvia Park.
A few minutes later my Mum went into Pak ‘n’ Save to get some things for lunch. Into the boot goes the shopping and we are off. Rainbows End was coming up and it was an exciting feeling because there was a new ride, THE INVADER!!!

My Dad paid for us and our first taste of Rainbows End was the Pirate Ship! It swung back and forth giving me a funny feeling in my stomach. On the swing down could feel my insides going one way and my body going the opposite way down towards the ground. After going on it twice, the thrill of the ride had worn off. Walking out of the entrance to the pirate ship, we saw my Dad and Khaia at the top of the Fear Fall, they were about to come down. I wondered if Khaia was scared of how high up she was. We left and all you could hear was Khaia screaming her head off.

My aunties and I headed off to the Log Flume, we passed the tempting candyfloss shop on the way. Hopping into the log boat I felt wobbly because it kept rocking side to side. The best part of that ride was going into the entrance of the cave which is covered by a small waterfall. I thought we were going to get wet from the waterfall but it suddenly stopped just as we came into the cave. I didn’t manage to stay dry, there was a little bump which made the boat hit the water, hard. And I got wet.

When I heard about the INVADER ride, my first reaction was I wonder if it’s similar to the Fearfall. It turned out that the Invader gives you the same queasy feeling as the Fearfall. It feels like your falling in mid air. My cousin and I thought it was so great that we went on it four
times.

“Lets go on the Roller coaster! It looks like lots of fun!” I exclaimed.
“Come on then, lets see if it is as good it looks.” my Aunty replied.
Pulling down my neck brace, I sat in my seat next to my Aunty Jackie. Her face looked worried. I think she was nervous. The roller coaster felt like you were being pushed and shoved by a huge crowd of people. By the end of the ride my head was not very sore so we went on it seven
more times!

Soon enough, after many more rides it was time to go. We packed up our things and headed off home after a long day of playing and having fun. I can’t wait until next year when we will hopefully go back!

Immersion Assembly.

I walked into the hall for Immersion Assembly, thinking "What is our topic for this term is?" We sat down behind RM 14. The hall was buzzing with chatter."Te Na Kotou Tamariki Ma" shouted Mr Burt. Assembly had just begun. Mr Burt showed us what our topic was. "Mighty Mariners" Shouted the school. He showed us where he had travelled in the holidays. "I went from Auckland to America" then a map came up on the screen with a yellow line showing the destination.
" Give it up for Team 1!" They did an animation of the seven waka's. My favourite was team 3 because they threw out chocolate coins and shot confetti out in the air using guns. What a fun Immersion Assembly, i am waiting for what next term is holding

GLEE

Glee is my favourite TV show in the WORLD! It is about a teenagers life in High School when they join Glee Club. Their names are Rachel, Finn, Mercedes, Artie, Quin, Jessie, Puck, Quirt, Mr Shoester and Coach Sylvester. They get teased and they even get drinks splashed in their faces! It happens because people think they are nerds. Do you know what a Glee Club is? Well it a group where you express your feelings through songs. If you want to watch it, it is on TV 3 at 8:30 or on Wednesday at 7:30 on C4. My favourite song that they have sang is Gives you Hell. Please watch it as it is very funny.

Circus Quirkus!!

Circus Quirkus!"Get changed"said Mum,"We're going to the circus. It's at the ASB stadium in Selwyn College."
We got there and there were a lot of people waiting, it was packed. In the queue I saw Rita and Chante, they were with their families. It was so cold waiting in line for the doors to open.
All of a sudden Harold the Giraffe appeared and he started giving out stickers and taking photos with people. The line started to move. The other two doors started to open and two different lines were formed. A lady at the entrance ripped our tickets.

Mum led us to the stage and told us to sit. Rita walked past and sat at the front. My dad said "Let's go sit at the top seats." "Sure!" Mum said. We made our way up the stairway and sat on the end chairs, the numbers were 16,17,18,19.
A man name Christophe came out and started to blow balloons and give them to people but they POPPED!! It was a very funny joke.

The lights dimmed and a voice started speaking "Hello, Welcome to Circus Quirkus! "Hhhhh hhh"cried my baby sister because she was scared. So my dad had to go to the back to calm my baby sister down.

All the circus people came out but instead of walking on to the stage they did cartwheels, flips and tumbles. "Cool!" I said to my mum with excitement. Music started to play and they did a little piece to show what was going to happen in the show. There were 3 men that were dressed up in African suits. Another man was dressed all in orange. Two ladyies were dressed all in blue. A man came out and started to bounce balls on a metal platform.

The next act was the lady that did gymnastics. It was my least favourite because it was boring. But the next act was very exciting because it was the men in African suits. They were jumping all over the place and flipping. Every body started to clap and cheer "Whhhhhhhoooo." "That was cool!" I said to my Mum, with a smile that spread right across my face.

A man came out and started pulling tiny bouncy balls out of his mouth. "Uwwwwwww" said my baby sister. A giant ring came on stage and the man hopped in it and started rolling across the stage. That was my favourite act. Christophe came out and asked for a volunteer. He picked Rita. She had to balance a balloon on her nose. She was sooo funny. My mum yelled "Go Rita!" she did so well.

After Rita's act was a 15min interval. In that time Khaia and I went down to join Chante and Rita. Interval finished and the men in the African suits came on stage and brought a table with them, along with 10 chairs. Unfortunately I did not watch it because we needed to go to the toilet. We came back and it was end of the show.

That was really cool thoroughly enjoyed that day. Thanks mum and dad for taking us to Circus Quirkus.
